September

This has been a stressful month already.

House and job hunting. The latter is only just beginning. The former is pretty much settled.

Finding a new apartment in Madrid has been a difficult task. I ended up visiting 9 different places around the city, and calling many more numbers. Many places got snatched up right as we went to see them. Others were downright terrible houses. Fortunately, the search ended up paying off. Or so it seems at this point. We move into a new place tomorrow night. Pictures and details will come soon.


In celebration, I have this picture. I found these hot dogs in my local supermarket. I believe that Jonah may have found them before me, but it was a joyful rediscovery for me. Those of you native english speakers should find the name brand ironically hilarious:

I did find these last summer. Absolutely hilarious. Other good finds have been a beauticians academy called "Asses" and a brand of (you are going to love this) hot dog buns called "Bums".

As I know you did a semester in Oxford, you know that the humorous reference there is not about our housing-challenged friends but another thing all together.

Those coupled with these ill-fated frankfurters would make for quite the picture!

The next thing I need to do is get the video camera out and ask people in the supermarket what their experience of "Wudys" has been. :D

I totally read that in Spanish at first and it took me a second to get the humor. But it's GREAT!!

Snowmelt demands movement

The sun is out again today. The snow has all but melted except for in the abandoned lots where they piled it up several stories high; but even those piles are melting, leaving behind all of the grime that was plowed up with the snow and rivulets of water running towards the nearest gutter. The fact that the water reaches the drain is quite a feat. Just weeks ago it would have frozen halfway across the sidewalk... and lain in waiting for an unsuspecting jogger. But, as I said before, the sun is out now, the temperatures are up, and the ice is nowhere to be seen. I am running out of excuses to avoid jogging, if you will permit the pun. Blogs

I remember when I started blogging. I think I was one of the first people I know to start blogging. Dont get me wrong, it was a cultural phenomenon back 4 years ago when I began, but none of my friends really did it. And then all of a sudden a bunch of us did. We all kept it up for a while, some came and went, but I had a pretty vibrant blogging community. Tonight I found myself checking my friends blogs and finding only abandoned websites for the most part. It kind of kills a lot of the fun of blogging for me.
