random thoughts

A few things I have been thinking about lately:

-My church here in madrid recently moved its services into a concert venue that is empty on sunday mornings. It is the well known Sala Galileo, where quite a few famous people have played (I saw kate rusby there last year). But because of this, I think we are probably the only church around that has a strawberry flavored condom machine in the bathroom

- Where does the word "boil" come from? Is boiling water said to be boiling because it develops boils on the surface, or does our skin develop boils because it looks like it is boiling?

- Why do we say, "I have a hunch" when we mean that we have an inclination towards a certain idea? Does a hunchback ever use that expression?

- Are babies really cute? Women only think they are cute because they are hormonally predisposed to do so. If not they would chuck em. I think newborns are weird looking. Wrinkly, red, with squashed little faces. I mean, after a few months they get cute, but newborns? I'm afraid they look more like aliens than cute things.
For example:

Ugly

Better

Cute

I've always thought newborns were ugly. I'm a little worried that I wasn't born with the proper maternal affections. Also, they are boring. Babies don't get interesting until they start talking. Hopefully my future children will survive the first two years.

perhaps what you need is a pet, and not a child. they are more consistently cute.

miriam, I wouldnt worry about your maternal instincts, you seem to like kids a lot. If you dont like them when they are newborns that is ok, as I think this blog proves.

Don't get me wrong folks, I wanna have kids, quite a few if possible. I'm just saying, I dont think the freshly made ones are cute looking. Endearing for other reasons maybe; to their parents definitely.

But yes, if I could have a baby polar bear, I would probably go for that at this point.

hey, pues la gente decía que yo era bonita cuando nací, no como el resto de "bebés arrugados y rojos" (esto suena mu creido, pero yo ni me acuerdo)
paz, no están calvos tía
