One down....

The quad is over (for the uninitiated in collegiate terms, a quad is half a semester) which means that I am halfway through this semester. That is pretty amazing, and I dont know where the time has gone. Midterms are done, and papers are handed in. I hope I do ok. I am thinking of picking up an extra class this next quad... perhaps an easy A type class. I know of one.



The end of the quad also means that I have 2 free days meant for finals. However, since I only take semester classes, I do not have finals for any quad classes. The extra long weekend will be nice. I hope I can take advantage of it, instead of sitting alone in my apartment like I would like to sometimes. Oh dont get me wrong, I will watch some movies. Alone preferably. However, I hope to "do" something. Many people are going home or taking off to Montreal to get smashed or investing in stock or something. I am landlocked without a car, but hopefully I can find friends who want to do stuff. My evans friends are going to be around, so I am assured some entertainment with them. I should get some more hookah tobacco and take the ole girl out again before it gets too cold to stand. I will have to learn to appreciate the minutiae of life since I do not have the means to embark on grandiose journeys at this point. Conversations, jokes, and the fact that I have friends weird enough to make me crossword puzzles made up exclusively of "ghetto terms."

Winter is almost here. You can never tell for sure at this time of the year. One day it is warm, the next it is cold. Snowmelt demands movement

The sun is out again today. The snow has all but melted except for in the abandoned lots where they piled it up several stories high; but even those piles are melting, leaving behind all of the grime that was plowed up with the snow and rivulets of water running towards the nearest gutter. The fact that the water reaches the drain is quite a feat. Just weeks ago it would have frozen halfway across the sidewalk... and lain in waiting for an unsuspecting jogger. But, as I said before, the sun is out now, the temperatures are up, and the ice is nowhere to be seen. I am running out of excuses to avoid jogging, if you will permit the pun. I am in some of the worse shape of my life and I don't particularly feel good about it. I remember when I started blogging. I think I was one of the first people I know to start blogging. Dont get me wrong, it was a cultural phenomenon back 4 years ago when I began, but none of my friends really did it. And then all of a sudden a bunch of us did. We all kept it up for a while, some came and went, but I had a pretty vibrant blogging community. Tonight I found myself checking my friends blogs and finding only abandoned websites for the most part. It kind of kills a lot of the fun of blogging for me.
